Come November, the ground will be covered with dark plates of pecan husks… the former cocoons of life-giving fruit of the tree. Today, the pecan husks are green, bulging with the nut inside, clinging to the smaller branches of the 100 year old tree just off the front porch. If there’s one thing I can count on, it is the fact that the green husks of today will give way to the pecan falling to the ground in November.
